Florence is an Arup Fellow and Global Lighting Design Director at Arup. She is also appointed as Visiting Professor of Lighting Design and Engineering at The Bartlett UCL Institute of Environmental Design and Engineering.
Her projects of significance include the V&A Dundee, the British Museum World Conservation Centre in London, The Acropolis in Athens, Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, Abu Dhabi International Airport Midfield Terminal, Taipei Taoyuan International Airport T3, Dongdaemun World Design Park in Seoul, the Stonecutters Bridge and the Tai Kwun Centre of Heritage and Arts in Hong Kong.
She was named the Lighting Designer of the Year at the UK Lighting Design Awards in 2013 and also the recipient of the 2020 Society of Light and Lighting President’s Medal.
In her presentation – A Journey of Evolution - Florence will explain how lighting design, from her personal perspective, has evolved over the years from engineering, art and architecture to become more humanity centric. She will reflect on how a holistic approach to projects can help overcome challenges and lead to more creative solutions.
