Ignacio Valero
Arkilum, Spain
Ignacio Valero is a Madrid based lighting designer, founder and current director of ARKILUM, a leading lighting design consultancy firm in Spain.
Trained architect, he has been involved in the Academia as lighting design professor (undergraduate and graduate) for more than 20 years, and he earned his Ph.D. degree for a daylighting design protocols research.
More recently, he is full time committed with his professional works which spans in a broad range of clients and typologies. His lighting design approach is based upon an accurate sensitivity towards the human side of the lighting outcomes, from perception to culture, going through narratives, performance or emotions.
He has a regular activity as lecturer and lighting workshops leader both in Spain and abroad. He has been active and committed as well with the lighting design profession development by promoting (as one of the founder members) the Spanish lighting design association APDI.
Ignacio presents an analogy between food and light. More precisely, between the historical (and social) development of the food culture, through its most remarkable steps and milestones, and how this is deeply related to our history as lighting people.
