Akari-Lisa Ishii

I.C.O.N., Paris and Tokyo

Akari-Lisa Ishii founded her lighting design company I.C.O.N. in Paris & Tokyo, she conveys new light trends around the world with an innovative touch imbued with Japanese culture, French spirit and international experiences. She studied Fine Arts and design then training in pioneer lighting design firms (US, Japan, France).

With a very rich palette of know-how and lighting vocabulary as well as a sharp sensibility, she carries out a wide range of international lighting design projects: urban, architecture, interior, event, landscaping, events, scenography and light art.  Her skills and her passion of the light are also expressed in sharing: publication of books, numerous conferences, teaching and product design.

Winner of numerous design awards, such as IES Award of Excellence for the diplomatic light and sound event on the Eiffel Tower in 2019.

In this presentation Akari-Lisa Ishii talks about how lighting could be an ambiance maker, an experience creator and an emotion incubator, when it’s designed intentionally, controlled correctly and especially placed discretely. 

In this talk, she will share her diverse experiences of the occasions where the light plays a principal role to reveal a secret and stimulate emotion of those who assist the moment, such as exhibition lightings in museums, lighting event shows, and experimental lighting installations.
